Long Delay I.E. 6

I have a starting issue:

When I d-click on the Internet Explorer Icon, it takes up
to 45seconds to launch the browser to the specificed
URL...any url, actually.

what is wrong now? was not like this 3days ago.
Ihave: win2k, 800mhz,i.e.6,office suite (ms), somewhat
stable system.
