long delay for new IE windows to open and the "about-blank" proble

Whenever I open a new IE window (be it the first window after the computer
restarts or after clicking a link that opens up a new IE window), there is a
long delay (~5 seconds) before the window appears. And during this time, the
computer seems to be frozen and I cannot do anything. This happens sometimes
with MSN messenger as well. Also, when I try to shut down MSN messenger, a
warning says "there are other applications using features of MSN messenger
such as IE; cannot shut down MSN messenger" but I am not running any program
at all.

Sometimes, the webpage would just blank out and the title would display
"about-blank" and IE would crash.

Also, when I right-click on the desktop screen, there is a delay (~2
seconds) before the "arrange icons by" buttons appear.

The first two problems only started occuring in the past 2 months while the
last one started about 4 months ago. And the delay seems to be longer and
longer.

Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

I did what's instructed on the link. But still has the problem of long
delay. However, if I disable "third party extension programs", there will be
no delay. Is this the only way to fix this?

Thanks.

Uh oh... that *could* be malware. Can you publish a list of third party
add-ons please.. you can find them at Tools, Internet Options, cache
settings button (or manage add-ons tool if available).
