If I am logged in at the host, then go to another machine
and try to connect, it tells me I am logged in and would I
like to log the current user out.

I say yes, but then the system hangs and all I see on the
client os a black screen.

I go back to the host and it is hung - I have to power off
to get in.

Is there a way to fix it so I don't have to reboot to get
in or stop it from hanging all together?

If I am logged out of the host machine, my client can
connect just fine.

This is an interesting problem. What's the version of the RD Connection
client (mstsc.exe) you're trying to connect with?

I would suggest a couple of things.

1. Upgrade your client software from this location -
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp
2. If that doesn't work - can you please try to change your power settings.
Start-->Run-->Desk.cpl-->ScreenSaver-->PowerSettings. Disable all the power
settings (like hibernation, sleep and standby) and try to connect. This
might be 'cos of hardware like the video card.

Hope that helps.
