Ruth

I have Windows XP Professional on my home computer.
The Administrator is the only account that I set up. When
I turned on my computer, it used to bypass the logon
screen and go directly to the desk top.

Yesterday, I installed a HP photosmart printer. Now it
goes to the logon screen.

What caused this change and is there any way to bypass
the logon screen and go directly to the desktop?

Ruth,

Not sure if the HP Printer software caused this. Most common cause is the .NET Framework update from Microsoft Windows Updates.

Hi Ruth,

To automatically log-on to Windows, type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 at start>Run
and press enter. Under the "User" tab, uncheck the box "Users must enter a
username...." and hit apply. Supply the username and password under which
you want your computer to Auto-logon everytime and OK your way out.
