Logon Script Installation Permissions Problem

I'm trying to install Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition
8.0 clients with a logon script as referenced in document
2002091010251748 on the following website:

http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/enterprise/select_product_
kb.html

I am installing from Windows 2000 Server to several
different platforms including Windows 95, 98, 2000
Professional, and XP. The 95 and 98 clients seem to
install correctly; however, the 2000 and XP clients will
not install as the users logging into the network on those
machines have limited permissions and do not have
permission to install software on the workstations.

Is there any workaround for this issue other than simply
having someone go around to each and every machine and
logon with an account that has administrator privledges on
that machine? That process would negate the whole
intention of installing with a logon script in the first
place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Symantec AV Corporate Edition includes a client install utillity that
can be run directly from the NAV CD or installed on a computer that has
the NAV Management console. The client install utility is used to
remotely install the NAV client by selecting the computers to install
to from a browse list. You can select multilple computers at a time
and you need to run the utility with an account has admin privileges on
the remote machines (domain admin works well). To get to the utility,
insert the CD, select Install Symantec Antivirus from the autoplay
screen, then select Deploy Antivirus to NT/2000/XP.

Even with this solution, it is still required to go around
to all of the remote machines and install software. Why
would anyone want to use a logon script to install the
client if they had to go around to every machine and log
in with an account that has administrative privledges?

Hi -

Been working on this for awhile now...no solution. You can't
assign the .msi to group policy...

"Add operation failed. Unable to extract
deployment information from the package. Run validation on the
package to
ensure that the package is correct"

Don't waste your time with the MS KB on this msg...it's not
relevant to Symantec Packager MSI's.

On the phone w/Symantec now to see if they even support this.
From the looks of it, they don't. From reading the docs on their
site, you can only deploy the .msi manually (which, just like the
login script, you need admin privs to the WS..which defeats the entire
purpose of an auto-deploy). Or you can use a ZAP file...but that
still doesn't accomplish what I want.

End goal here is to auto-push NAV installs to all new
PC's/Laptops connected to the domain w/out intervention. To Symantec,
"Auto" means use the client deploy program on the CD w/all PC's hooked
up to the network. "Auto" to me means, Joe hooks up his laptop that
hasn't been in the office for 2 months, logs in to the domain, and NAV
is pushed to his laptop via group policy.

I once read a NS msg that mentioned a vb script someone wrote to
accomplish this...however I haven't been able to locate it (the NS or
the script). Any clues?
