I'm the only user of this computer. It is my home computer. I updated
Windows today and it turned on my Login screen that I had a friend disable
for me. I have tried a system restore and I have tried removing the updates
but to no avail. Is there a way to perninantly disable this login screen?
Can I delete it totally from Windows XP? Is it possible that I can finally
send the dreaded login screen towards the light? Is this thing like Dracula?
Do I need to put a wooden spike through my computer before it will forever
go away???

For me, as you have probably noticed, it is one of the most annoying things
on the face of the earth; next to people who think they can drive properly
but really can't and do stupid things on our highways because they failed
patience school.

.. Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.
.. Type in the following:
control userpasswords2
.. now click OK
.. In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the primary logon.
.. Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.
.. Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected users
password.

Click OK.
The changes will work the next time you restart your computer.

Thank you. I did that and have lost the login screen.thankfully. However, I
now have another screen that irriates me. When I leave my pc for a while,
monitor turned off, I come back and I have a login type screen that doesn't
require a password but tells me who is logged in and how many programs are
running by that user; in this case the user is myself. I never had this
beofre. I don't want it. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Thanks

Depending on your version of WinXP:-

Right click on the desk top, select properties, select Screen Saver Tab.
Uncheck "On resume, display welcome screen."
or
Uncheck "On resume, password protect"
