logon problems with xp pro

Hello, running Server 2000, all is fine except with new
xp pro laptops. they hang for up to an hour on "applying
personal settings". This oddly enough only happens with
dlink or linksys wireless cards, not when hardwired.
Have applied 2 hotfixes and am at my wits end.
Everything is configured correctly. These are school
workstations with multiple users logging into domain.
Anyone have any ideas?
 
Have you put the servers IP addres in the workstations dns
settings? XP will often take a long time to resolve if
this has not been done. Cheers
