Logon problem - automatically logs off

When I enter my password on the Win2K Log On to Windows
screen, the PC starts the logon procedure by showing me
the follwing messages:

Loading your personal settings

Closing network connections
Saving your settings

and puts me back to the Log On to Windows screen.

This all transpires within 10 seconds.

Any suggestions? I have run the repair function using the
Win2K CD, and also run CHKDSK on the C drive, but it does
the same thing.

I am able to get to the dos prompt using the console
option and log on with the same password when using the
win2k cd, but I can only go to the Winnt directory. Access
is denied to any other directory on the C or D drive in
this mode, so I am not able to delete selective files to
make enough room to reinstall win2k.

Any suggestions?
thanks

Sounds like either the drive permissions changed or the drive letters have
changed.

Dave,

The drive letters are the same. What would cause the drive
permissions to change? Would this also cause the first
problem where the system starts to logon, and then then
automatically logs me out?

These articles may help. If it is a permissions issue the only fix I know of
would be to reset permissions from a parallel install.
