Logon/logoff issues

I have a home network with 4 WinXP computers (no server). One of the computer is "master" and is configured like this: Internet ADSL > D-link firewall router > 3com WLAN > Master computer. The printers are also connected to the master. All pc's can surf the internet, print and connect to eachother's files
I want to use Remote Desktop Connection (or terminal services, if applicable) to remotely manage one of the computers. The remote computer will have a software running constantly to it can not be logged out, but when I use RDC the remote computer must log out that user in order to log me in, and by doing that it also stops the software that cannot be stopped
Is there any way to manage the remote computer without logging off the user on the remote computer
Is it possible to use Terminal Services without a server involved

If you are using Remote Desktop Connection with XP-Pro, there is no
way to prevent the remote user from logging off. The remote desktop
session needs exclusive access to the remote computer. Only one remote
desktop connection is allowed per machine.

Now if you setup a terminal services server (I think your O/S needs to
be Windows Server ), then you would be able to have multiple remote
desktop sessions hosted on a single server.

Or you may try non-Ms software like PC-Anywhere. I am not certain if
this would allow multiple sessions, you may want to read up on this.
