reason rior to that we never had a problem

Have you checked the ipconfig/all on the clients? Does everything point to
your server-IP?

Kevin...

Are you running NetBIOS over TCP/IP?
Is WINS installed?

computername = NetBIOS name

If you can get there by IP, then connectivity is there but NetBIOS naming is
not.
Can you ping the FQDN? ex. server.domain.com or server.internal.domain.com

If everything works but: ping servername
....then it sounds like a NetBIOS naming issue.
