It sounds like the trust is only working one-way and the NT4.0 domain does
not currently trust the Windows 2000 domain. You can try breaking and
recreating the trust using the following kb article:
306733 HOW TO: Create a Trust Between a Windows 2000 Domain and a Windows NT

The primary element for a trust to work is netbios name resolution. If
netbios name resolution is working between the two domains then the trust
should work just fine.
