I'm trying to logon as 'administrator' on Windows XP and I get an
error stating 'unable to log you on because of an account
restriction'. I tried going to safe mode and assigning a password to
the administrator account, but when I boot back up in normal, the
account still throws that message. Can anyone enlighten me as to what
I can do to logon as the administrator?

Thanks in advance for any help forthcoming.

Is this XP Home or XP Professional?
There is a difference.
The built-in Administrator account in either version is not meant for everyday use anyway.
Rather you should create your own "Computer Administrator" type account with your own name.
The built-in Administrator account is like a template for creating other Computer Administrator accounts.
If you were to routinely function in that account and it became corrupted, it would not be a good thing, it would be a very bad thing.
