Logoff/Shutdown Question

I am having a problem on Windows 2000 and XP Pro when a user selects Restart
the computer will just log the user off. Once logged off the can press
CTRL-ALT-DEL and then select shutdown then restart and it will work. I'm sure
its a registry setting somewhere but can't find it. I talked to people in the
IT dept with me and no one knows of a change we did that would cause this.

Since this is happening in both W2k and WinXP (although you don't mention
whether it's all users) it could be a group policy setting, if you're using
a domain.

Did you check the event logs, perchance?

I have checked the event logs and group polciy and don't see anything that
relates to this. I am using a Active Directory domain.

Try running gpupdate /force in a command prompt once. Then reboot. then run
rsop.msc and check for errors - and/or settings that might affect this. Who
manages the group policy, and have they changed anything recently?
