I hope this is the right group for this. I just bought a Logitech marble
trackball mouse because of tendinitis problems. I am using winxp sp2 and it
keeps losing the double click.

I have the mouse setup for the first button as (single), middle button
(context menu), and the third button for (double click). This the second
logitech mouse with this problem. Anyone else have this problem?

The microswitches for mouse buttons wear out eventually. How long have you
had the mouse?

This mouse is brand new!! I believe the bug is in Microsoft. But I can't
find anything on there website about this. This is really annoying. Now it'
s past the time to return the mouse since Compusa only give you 21 days. I
thought it was 30 so it got me off guard. Now I'm stuck with a mouse that I
have to go into control panel setup and reset the buttons.

This might be a driver problem. With the mouse plugged in, remove it
from device manager. Shut down, unplug the mouse, reinstall the driver,
plug mouse in. Or, see if Logitech has a newer driver.

More simply, try reducing the double-click speed to something that works
reliably. Also, check the software for anything having to do with the
transmission bandwidth or number of bits sent with each transmission and
set to one of six or eight bits (you might Google Groups this idea since
it has come up in the past with tilt wheel mice, IIRC).

I am trying the usb port to see if this fixes it. I have always used ps/2
because at the time I was using win98. Could never get it to work. Works
fine under winxp. Well see.
