I just reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my machine and when I boot it up
it ask for a password, which I never use. In my previous installation
I did not have this. Can anyone tell me how to turn this off so I can
just boot up and get to work?

Thanks,
Jeff :)

Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" Select the account you want
to logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a
user name and password to use this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

Was this a clean reinstall or a repair reinstall? Sounds more like repair if
so there are some things you can do. Let us hnow what stage you are at when
asked for the password. Is in in the windows environment or before windows
actually opens (when computer boots goes through loading windows but stops
to ask for password
just before windows opens).

Hi Ken,

I did that but it still ask for a password. I ca nclick OK can go
right by it without putting one in but I can not seem to get rid of
it.

Hi Randy,

This started after the install, when I boot up the machine. It give me
the usual Windows password that I can leave blank and proceed on. This
was a clean install. I followed Kens advice, (my other reply) but that
did not work either).

Jeff :)
