We support various clients remotely and use the RDC to
get to the servers as needed. We have noticed that
several servers are hanging when we try to log onto
them. Logon is successful but then it just hangs @
Loading Your Personal Settings.

As a test, I have checked the server and terminal
services manager, I see my connection to the server but
it still just hangs at the loading personal settings
screen.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Drew

No, this is the admin profile on the server, if we bounce
the we can connect with the RDC for a day then say at the
end of the day it hangs after logon with the loading
profile.

No, this is the server admin profile

Only with Remote Desktop, or also from the console?
Only with this account, or all accounts?
Local or roaming profiles?
Roaming profiles working from normal workstations?
No name resolution problems?
Any recent changes in sw/hw?

This happens from the console and RDC. Not only with this
local profile but mine as well which is less the 200K.

I can log onto other machines in the domain with the Admin
account but not this console with any user id.

No errors or problems and no changes or patches.

Does this also happen with the local administrator account (assuming they're
not DCs)?

Can you access the application & system event logs remotely via Computer
Management? Anything in the logs about the time the system stopped allowing
logons?

What happens if the network cable is disconnected, will it log you onto the
domain w/ cached credentials?

This is a production system with very little downtime
available.

I will try this next time we have maintenance and will
let you know.

Thanks

Drew
