I have the Windows XP home edition. When I start-up my computer, there's a log-on step where the user name is just "default", and I don't need a password. All I have to do is click OK.

Since I'm the sole user of this computer, is there a way to by-pass the username/password step and let the computer just boot-up to show the desktop

Thanks for the help.

Hi Rob,

Start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes).

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.
