I am running Vista Ultimate on a new laptop and about one out of every three
times I Shutdown or Restart, the system hangs on the "Logging Off" screen.
I've let it run for 15 min and it never completes. Any thoughts on what can
be causing this?

Look in the Problem Reports and Solutions area for any indication of what is
causing this.
Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Problem Reports and Solutions

If that doesn't give a clue do some clean boot troubleshooting. The process
is the similar in Vista and XP.

Did your device ever enter into sleep mode during this process?

I've been seeing something with my new installation of Vista that if my PC
goes into Sleep mode and I do this it hangs here... However if I boot up and
do things it seems to be good.

Though I'm only 4-5 hours into Vista and haven't been able to narrow it down
myself!
