When having Windows Live Messenger installed I cannot sign in on my specific
account. Any other hotmail or msn account I try works fine, when I try with
mine it just sits there signing in forever... no error given; But it although
it does not log me in, it does sign me out of any computer that I'm on while
it tries to log me in. Once again there is no error given, and Live Messenger
works with any other email but my own. I have gone back to Msn Messneger 7.5
for now until I can figure out the problem.

that happens to me to but its with all the messengers accept the windows
messenger and it doesnt sign me out it just sits there frozen every single
time

Greetings,

To fix this problem, shut down Messenger entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the
notification area and choosing Exit, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/remove_msgrsettings.reg

Then try signing in again.

i have been having the same problem with windows live messenger for over a
week now. i tried to visit the link you gave and the page comes up as a "you
are not authorized to view this page" error. i can log on to my account on
windows messenger and on trillian, but cannot log any account onto live
messenger. i can also log my account onto other computers with windows live
messenger. help plz, this is very frustrating. i used to be able to log in
fine, then one day i couldnt.... Teresa

Greetings Teresa,

It sounds like you're on some proxy or something similar which is blocking specific things,
like my .reg file.

You can still try the fix, but depending on what you mean by "a week", this may not have
anything to do with your problem. Regardless, firstly make sure Messenger has been closed
and then click Start, then Run, enter "regedit" and click OK.

Next, you'll be presented with a hierarchy of folders (referred to as keys), similar to
Windows Explorer. You can navigate down the hierarchy by clicking the + next to each key.
Simply go down to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger. After you've clicked the + next to
MSNMessenger, simply right-click on the Policies key and choose Delete. Confirm the
operation, close the Registry Editor and then attempt to sign into Messenger again.

months before i started having this problem. also, the other computer that i
have logged in on are on the same network as mine. any other ideas??
