Is there supposed to be a login button on this site. The only way I have been
able to login is by clicking Edit Profile or starting a new post or reply,
Also I have selected remember password numerous times but when I login it
doesn't and the selection has gone back to remember login only. Am I missing
something here?

what you are likely missing
is the convenience of utilizing
microsoft's outlook express
to access microsoft newsgroups.

perhaps, by clicking on the
link below, you will initiate
an unknown resource:

This newsgroup has nothing to do with Vista!

There is an option to click here to install silverlight. Would this improve
the my access options?

I have been using Free Agent for a reader but my ISP dropped nuwsgroups so
havent tried it lately. Will see if I can get it or Outlook Express to open
the group.
Thanks

Ernie

Fo the Microsoft public newsgroups you take messages directyly from one
of the Microsoft news servers. If your ISP does not carry newsgroups you
can use free newsgroup providers for non-Microsoft groups.

Hope this helps.

You will still be able to get to the MS groups (unless your ISP actually
blocks NNTP traffic). In OE set up a new News account with server
msnews.microsoft.com, download the list of newsgroups, subscribe at will,
and off you go. (Don't put your actual e-mail address in the set-up
dialogue, though.)

so, what i gather is that
when you clicked the link
i provided, your outlook
express didn't open up
and provide you with the
feature to read postings
via its interface and not
the browser.

perhaps, if the above
is correct, then you might
need to reinstall i.e., since
o.e. is a module of it.

go to microsoft.com
and download the genuine
version of ie.

maybe, something you
installed or uninstalled
simply screwed up not
only your browser but
the o.e. as well.

in addition, your a.v.'s,
firewall and even the
hosts file may be inhibiting
the performance of your
accessing certain websites.

I assume that what you mean is that your ISP stopped providing
newsgroups to its customers. Note however, that there are lots of
other sources for newsgroups, and many of them are free.

For these Microsoft newsgroups, use the free news server Microsoft
provides: msnews.microsoft.com

For other general newsgroups, I recommend the free Motzarella (but
note that it only provides text newsgroups, and not binary ones).

Alternatively, if you also want binary newsgroups, you might want to
consider a pay-for service like Giganews.

Go though Motzarella.org ( free ) . [ Keep free Agent ]

The reason the link you gave me failed is that my default news reader is
Forte Free Agent. It was addressed to the now defunct news server at my ISP
so it just blinked on and off and returned me to the page I was viewing.

In OE I did a search load of available news groups and this group was one of
them. Group pops up immediately but replying hasn't worked so far. I have
tried several times using reply and all messages have been returned as
undeliverable. If I use reply all I get this error "No sender was specified.
Please check your news account configuration." I can find no place in OE
setups to do this so I am at a loss for what to try next.
Thanks again
Ernie

ok, i guess you are
on the right track.

the next step is to
configure your accounts
which is done via tools
menu option.

the problem you may
have to 'address' is your
log in - (pun intended..:-)
