log programme downloads

Hi to all,
Am looking for an application that can be run when a programme is being installed, so that a log of files that are introduced with the programme are kept.
Any such beast?

Just the thing, have now downloaded, have yet to instal.
Are you the first? The one and only reply as I type!
I did google for an aplication such as this, but used all the wrong search
words - download monitor - and such, so I thought I'd just ask the experts!
