hello there,
since downloading service pack 1 for windows xp
professional i now have to log on at start up and i am
unable to find an option in "user accounts".
Anyone know how to turn this off? ( I use a stand alone
computer - andthere are no other users of it)

t.i.a.
Rich.

Hello,

Click Start->Run, and type:
control userpasswords2

Now clear "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer"

Well...tks Kristofer, I guess.
I don't have to log on now, but I have lost all my
settings, including files in "my documents", music files
etc - How do I get them back!!! :-)
Rich.

Tks Kristofer, i posted a reply to this yesterday but it
appears to have disappeared. I did as you suggested but,
although indeed, this lets you in without a password, it
sets up a new account called 'administrator' which it
boots up and which i can't delete. This 'administrator'
account doesn't have my settings etc.

cheers,
Richard.
