I have upgrades from XP home to XP Pro. The instructions
tell meCTR+ALT+DEL will bring up LOG OFF option. All I get
is the windows task manager. I also don't get request for
CRT ALT DEL when I start up. Am I missing something
obvious? It all looks the same as XP home

Hi,

Are you using the Welcome screen for logging in. click on users in control panel and then change the way users log in and log off.

Then uncheck the Welcome screen login procedure. this will give you the classic login screen.

If you upgraded from Home to Pro because you thought that it contained more,
then you are right.. but what did you expect it to contain?.. there are
security features that most 'Home' users would not use, and way more
extensive networking features which the average home user may or may not
use.. other than that, there are few things that anybody would notice..

i'm having the same problem, if you are luckier than i am in finding the
right answer, and you are seccessful please, please, plaese!!! let me know

There may be an easier way but you can try this anyway.
I am assuming your computer is standalone for this. If you are connected to
a domain at work then the following may not work, depending on what settings
your system administrators set in the domain.
Anyway...
Click Start, Run... and type 'gpedit.msc' in the box and click OK. This
should launch the Group Policy Object Editor. In the left panel under
'Computer Configuration', double-click on 'Security Settings', then 'Local
Policies', then 'Security Options'. Now in the right panel there should be
an item which reads 'Interactive Logon: Do not require CTRL-ALT-DEL'. Double
click this item and make sure that it is DISABLED. Now you can just exit and
reboot your computer.
