I have noticed hundreds of failed attempts of outside
users attempting to log on to my computer as well as many
successful anonymous logons. I have heard there is a way
to set a thershold for failed logons to say three as an
attempt to control this. I've having a problem determind
where and how to set the logon thresholds. I would be
pleased if anyone could offer me any sugguestions. Thank
You.

Hi Ken,

it would help us a lot if you told us if this is home PC or company PC.

I will presume this is home PC. If there are many attempts to logon make
sure you are using personal firewall. WindowsXP has built in one but you can
also use any other that you feel comfortable with.

If this is WindowsXP Professional then you can set logon threshold by:
Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc -> expand Computer Configuration -> Windows
Settings -> Security Settings -> Account Policies -> Account Lockout...

Be careful. Bad settings can lock you out of your PC!!! My main advice would
be use Firewall. This way users won't even come to any sort of logon prompt
and won't be able to authenticate or try to authenticate to your PC!
