Log on site

On the home screen where I log on, the box by my name
keeps showing I have two unread messages. However, I've
checked e-mail several times and there are no new
messages. How can I get rid of that statement?

TweakUI is available from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (SP1 and later systems)

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp (Pre SP1 systems)

In the Logon section, you can turn off the unread mail notification. In the Repair section, you can repair the unread mail account.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Repair - Repair Unread mail count will unset the count; its Logon -
Unread Mail allows you to disable the facility entirely
