i changed my logon name and password on my new laptop and now it would let me
log on, any way around it, i tried safe mode and last known good
configuration, and still stops at log on screen

Hi,

You can reset the local Administrator password with one of the methods
mentioned here (you may need to create the boot cd/floppy on another
computer):
