Hi guys,

I've just upgraded my home laptop client to xp pro
running office 2000. 2003 will come later but not yet :-)
I have been through the menus and walkthroughs for
setting up user account and tweaking admin accounts etc.
I am unable with the settings and tabs available to bring
up the log on screen at startup. The system will fire up
straight to the main admin account with full access to
all files & folders. I want to set it to the CTRL/ALT/DEL
logon but i cannot see the options for this.I have set
the machine to screensave after 8 mins idle. This will
then bring up the logon screen displaying the user
accounts ready for selection. Why is this here but not at
logon? I need the same screen at logon or the C/A/D
window. Either will do.
Any help from the wizzkids will be greatly
appreciated....
Good hunting.....

Hi Mr. Burns,

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
Select "Change the way users log on or off"
In this window select "Use the Welcome screen" and hit
Apply Options
That will do the trick!
Greetings,

JR or should i say Mr.Simpson,
I have applied all you suggest before writing the post,
and even with the box checked it still loads to
administrator account. Also when i used to press
CTRL/ALT/DEL a box would appear giving options, this now
goes straight to task manager where task manager used to
be one of the options of the missing box. I have the
windows update icon constantly showing even after
download and restart. I have this set and inform me
before accepting dowloads. Previously it was set to
automatic downloads. there are some SP2 hotfix's in
programms but I don't believe sp2 has automatically
downloaded - how does one tell? the file size of the MS
fixes patched etc are not on the right hand side as with
other programms. After installing and affecting updates
there was a 6-7 download sesh over a dial up connection.
Sometimes, not always at start up my mcafee anti virus
goes black box not enabled and a pop up box appears
telling me some components are missing and that i should
reinstall. I have done this twice the problem occurs
randomly at start up but i'm able to right click mcafee
and enable in the menue?...strange....
Should i be uninstalling all the MS updates and go for a
reload? And how do i get to get to the welcome screen at
log-on...?....the mystery grows deeper.....
Hope you or some other magician can lend a hand.....
Cheers....mr.burns
