Hi Tyler,
To change the background color shown when the CTRL+ALT+DELETE logon prompt is
displayed requires a registry edit. The following registry key contains the
"Background" entry that determine the color (the value below is the default value):
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors]
"Background"="58 110 165"
Note that the value is shown as a series of three numbers (with a space in between),
which refer to the RGB (red-green-blue) value of the color. So your first step is to
determine the RGB value for the color you want to use. One way is to use Display
Properties > Appearance [tab] > Item: Desktop > Color > Other... [button] to note the
Red, Green, Blue values for the color you want to use. For example, if you select
black, the RGB values show 0 0 0.
Once you determine the RGB values simply run regedit.exe, navigate to the
aforementioned registry key, double-click Background, and enter the new value. Note
that changes made to the entry using the registry are not effective until the
computer has been restarted.
Microsoft recommends that before you edit the registry, you back up the registry and
understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For more information, see:
