Jeff

Hello,

My home computer with XP Pro used to boot directly to the
desktop after I turned my computer on.

However, after installing some updates, it now takes me
to a log in screen before the desktop.

The screen says, "To begin, click your user name."

I am the only user.

How can I get XP to go directly to my desktop again
instead of pausing at this log on screen?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

This was due to the Net Framework update, it adds another user.

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Hi,
To automatically log-on to Windows, type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 at start>Run
and press enter. Under the "User" tab, uncheck the box "Users must enter a
username...." and hit apply. Supply the username and password under which
you want your computer to Auto-logon everytime and OK your way out.

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Uncheck Users must enter a username and password..... Click Apply. On the next dialog enter the username that you want automatically logged on, and the password for that account, if any.
