log on problems

When I click on my user profile in Win Xp Pro, the desktop
loads for a second and then logs me off. Does anyone have
any suggestions?

No prob. It's deep in the discussion you cited, just thought it might
help to bring it to the surface here. I actually ran across this on a
machine I was trying to repair a week or two back. Once you know the
solution it's not too bad to recover, it was fun (read challenging)
without that knowledge.
