log on administartor password request

i get an administrator password request after last time restarting the PC, which i don't have and didn't set it up
i tried to repair windows xp, but it asks for the administrator password. i am trying not to lose my file
how can i over come this problem without formating?
 
First check if there is any other Users with Admin rights
on the PC. Then login as that person (hopefully it's
yourself) and reset the adin password. Otherwise loginto a
domain (Find a client or a friend that will let you do so)
login as there Administrator, and then reset your password.
That is basicly the easiest routes, I'd think, without
doing a repair.
