Log off pull down menu

Why would anyone want a pull down menu when all the choices would fit
in the same area?

Could someone please tell me how to change from a pull down log off
menu to the old one that listed all the choices?

You perhaps have the 'classic start menu' layout. Otherwise you get that by
default (little arrow to the right of the start menu).
