log off problem

Hi, when I log on and then someone else logs on in there
own name> Now 2 people are logged on...Then when one of
us logs off, I get a black screen and I can't do
anything, No cursor no nothing.......I press esc, i've
pressed crl-alt-delete and nothing it stays just a black
screen....The only way to get out of it is to hold in the
start button on the computer till it shuts down..It never
did this before . So know I don't know what to do to
correct this...........Please help! thank you...
