Log Files??

..Hello
i have recently done a Disk Defrag on my desktop Computer the report states
that it could not Defrag all files.on checking the Report, under "files that
did not defragment" ..i have 1,178 333MB \Email\outlook backup.pst, ...and
1,489(fragments) 14.22 GB ( file size)
\windows\system32\logfiles\WMI\trace.log. i know remove/save Pst ,but can i
Delete the log files without causing any Problems? reason asking to free up
hard drive.
I am running XP pro 3.2 pentium 4. 1gig memory , 80 GB hard Drive.

Hi!
Log files (many diagnosis programmes will write some kind of those) are
there only, to give you information. After reading it (or not) you can
safely delete them.
If you do not want to keep the .pst (Email) files you can delete them
also, but make sure you really do not want them anymore.
Hard drives are very cheap now, maybe you should get a spare one to
keep all your backup files???

Have you run bootvis.exe lately? If so, you'll need to run it
again and turn off logging. Bootvis.exe may have created the
trace.log file and keeps adding to it every time you boot your
system.

If that's not the source of your problem, you might want to
check out the response in this thread provided by Wesley Vogel,
MS-MVP. Start by looking at the registry key he mentions.

i tried your suggestion and it worked a treat.. gee's it cleaned it up nice.
