Have a client that is running four XP-Pros on a network attached to a 2000
Pro server. This is the only workstation that is giving trouble. She is on
the internet doing office business through https// web sites as she moves
page to page it locks up tight. You can’t alt/ctrl/del to quit, just a cold
shutdown. The event viewer doesn’t’ show any errors.
I have double checked for virus, spyware was only 4 items, removed them,
checked for missing or corrupted files on the operating system, reinstalled
IE6, defragged, reset the memory sticks .
She can move to another workstation and everything is ok, so it’s something
to do with here workstation. All the internal office apps work fine.
I’m out of idea’s

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need
updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the
latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your
hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these
work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated:

Or the Java VM:

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all
files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
