My explorer.exe is locking up after installing the most recent windows xp
security update (KB933729). I've installed it twice with the same results.
The second time I downloaded only that update. Mouse is the only thing that
works. A system restore gets me back up.

Anybody have any suggestions?

The update will offer you a 'don't show me this update again", if you choose
to continue to use your system as is. You probably need a better driver for
one of your devices.

I've had the same problem. It's actually a complete computer lockup
(including mouse, keyboard, Direct X (sound during Winamp song play , sound &
graphics during a 3D game, internet explorer, windows live messenger, and
everything actually...), it happens every few seconds, and lasts a split of a
second.

Removing this update does solve the lockups, but I've read its bulletin and
it sounds like a pretty important security update...

I'd report a bug to Microsoft, but it seems like it's impossible...
( http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactbug this address only leads to some
phone number...)

Let's hope they fix it soon...
