LOCKING UP

I just got done doing a fresh install of windows xp home
on my computer and it is locking up on me randomly...
i have:
amd 1.2
768 sdram
20 gig 7200 rpm western dig hard drive
commate mother board with a VIA VT82C686B Chipset
on board sound
TNT Vanta 32 mb video
10/100 realtek
does ANYONE HAVE ANY HELP!!
i have install xp 4 times now and am pulling my hair out..
i have partitioned the full drive and re formated too...
still no help..
I have downloaded ALL the window updates and even new
drivers from the manufactures sites...

HELP ME PLEASE!

Could be heat..
Could be bad RAM..

Open your case, put a fan blowing into it.
If that does nothing, take out some of your memory.. Rearrange it.. etc..

Set your BIOS to safer settings than they are now..
Check the event log to see if there is anything there that helps you narrow
your search..
Keep your firewall on and antivirus updated.. Also check for spy/ad/malware.

mis matched ram will cause this bad ram will cause this check to make sure
all of your ram is pc100 or pc133 if it is not remove the ones that do not
match if they all match check to see if you have a bad chip by removing them
one at a time and booting up and see if it still locks up, XP is pretty ram
friendly but it is picky and will not let you by with things 98 & ME did.
