Did you check for compatibility of all hardware and software before
upgrading? I expect that you did not.
If so, this is likely the cause.
A lot of software should have been uninstalled and reinstalled after the
upgrade. Office for example is one package that has this requirement.
Almost all drivers will need to be upgraded. Get the latest XP driver from
the vendors weg site, uninstall the old driver and install the new one.
Do this for all hardware:
Sound card
Graphics card
Modem
etc.
If your motherboad is newer than when Win XP first came out, check there
site foe other upgrades.
You can get there, but it would have been a lot easier to run the check
program before doing the upgrade.
