Well,
I am the network administrator in a small office. We
recently upgraded our 10 workstations from Windows 2000
PRO to Windows XP PRO. The reason we preformed this OS
upgrade is because we are a digital arts company whom
operates mainly with Adobe Premiere and Photo Shop. And
as some of you may know Adobe Premiere PRO will only run
on XP! Anyways on windows 2k we were always able to
secure our stations when we were away from them by
pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and then clicking on "Lock
Computer". This feature is very important to us as we
have people coming in and out of our offices all the time
and this gave use the ability to secure our stations with
out having to close what we are working on and log off.
Where is this feature in windows XP PRO? I was reading in
the help and support and it says the feature is still
there but it now requires a Domain. We do not log into a
domain so this is rather inconvenient for us. Is there
any way to get this feature back with out having to use
domain logon? If not Microsoft needs to fix this issue
with SP2 for XP.
Thank you,
