I hope someone can help. I had an icon set up to link me to my secure
database. I ended up getting hit with a virus that affect MS Office and I
had to uninstall and reinstall to get my programs working right. Now the
icon to my database is gone and whenever I try to access my database it tells
me I don't have permission. HELP!
 
I've looked thru many of the other posts to try and find the secure file to
hook me up to my database. I found two system.mdw files (system and system1)
I've tried to join both and was "successful" but neither one will allow me to
enter my password or anyone elses to let me into the database. Both give me
the same message that the user name and/or password are not valid. I really
need help on this one.

Do you know which workgroup file was used to secure the database? You'll need to use that workgroup to open your secured
database. The easiest way is to re-create the shortcut, using this as the Target:

"Full path to msaccess.exe" "full path to your database" /wrkgrp "full path to your workgroup file"

No, I'm assuming the system one is the original one which ended up being
deleted because my database was corrupted. However, neither one will allow me
to put in my passwords or anyone elses (I set them all up so I know
everyones). Is it possible that the two system.mdw files are conflicting
with each other which is why I can log in? I've used the same password for
myself since I set up the security but right now I can get into the database
at all.

System.mdw is the default workgroup file. When your db was secured, most likely a new workgroup file was created and
used to secure the database.

Try searching your computer for all files ending in .mdw, then try joining those workgroups and logging in. If you find
one you can use to login, then build a shortcut as described in my earlier email to access it.

Also, if your db connected to a remote datafile, the workgroup file may be on that machine as well. You might also try
searching there.

the database only resides on my computer, I had already done the search and
found the two system.mdw files as indicated earlier and three security.mdw
files. I've joined the two system files and neither will allow me to log in.
Is there anyway to remove the security without being able to get into the
database?

It's more likely that one of the three security.mdw is the one you want.
Try each of them. Also, be sure you try with a blank password.
