made a mistake

I created a database that will eventually be used by
multiple users on a shared drive.

I have never used security features in access so I was
looking at what is available. I started to go through the
step on the USER LEVEL SECURITY WIZARD but I had no
intention of completing the wizard ( ijust wanted to see
what it was all about)

Unfortunatly I accidentally hit finish instead of cancel
and now I cannot access by database.

Any help on getting back into my database would be much
appreciated.

What version of Access?

.
this may double post because I am not sure if I hit ok or
not. I am using access 2000. It looks like I can access
the database but all my tables, queries, marcos ect are
missing and were replaced by 4 queries entitled

MsysGrouplist
MsysGroupMembership
MsysUserList
MsysUsermembership

Not sure what that means, like I said I am new to access
and I have never used any of the security features.

Thanks

The wizard likely created a desktop shortcut to open the database - see if
there is one. Login using a blank password.

Check the folder where the mdb is. The wizard may have created a backup of
your unsecured mdb (it'll have the same name, but a bak extension). Copy it
to another folder and change the extension to mdb and try opening it (you
shouldn't get a login). If you do get a login prompt, then...

Search your computer for all *.mdw files.

Use Start, Run, wrkgadm.exe. It will show you the mdw file you are
currently joined to by default. Try joining one of the other mdw files you
found. Ideally, that would be system.mdw in the windows\system folder.

You're looking at the .mdw file, not your database file.

With A2000, open Access (not a database, just the program itself) and click
Tools - Security - Workgroup Administrator. Find and re-join the system.mdw
file (it's located in different places depending on your OS ... you may wish
to do a File Search before trying this). You should be able to open your
database.

In the future, learn Access User Lever Security on a COPY of your database
.... improperly applying security can lock you out of your database for good.
