Attempts to install a Logitech cordless keyboard met with
Windows not recognizing it and no keyboard I attach to
the computer's PS2 port is recognized. Therefore, no
password can be entered and I am the admin for my PC.
Anyone have any clue how to either de-install the
keyboard or how to even get into Windows XP without the
keyboard? I don't Want to reinstall the OS and all my
apps all over again. Logitech deserves a "virtual pipe
bomb" for their lack of support on this issue.

Hi Perry,

In microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics you remarked...

Have you tried starting up in safe mode (hold the F8 key down
during boot up)?

I had one of those and it takes a bit of fiddling to get
it to get a connection to the receiver , mine went off
once and I had to rely on my graphics pad to navigate.
I am now back on a plug in kboard & mouse.
Good luck !

Yes I had and that gets me to the choices for Safe Mode,
etc. Then once Windows is up, the Logon screen is
there. No keys I press work at that point. What I did
was use my original XP cd to repair the installation and
that gets me back in, but the computer keeps rebooting
soon after I login. The STOP message is 0x0000008E and
doesn't reference anything other than a problem was
detected. I wish Microsoft would let us know what the
problem detected was... my life would be much simpler. I
still hate Logitech for the crappy way their software
installs.

Did you adjust your BIOS settings? If not, your BIOS may require you to
enable a USB keyboard/mouse. In most cases, you should be able to get
Windows to recognize the keyboard even if the BIOS doesn't but I think
some BIOS require you to enable USB for keyboards. Worth a check.

Normally you can't attach a PS/2 keyboard after the system boots.
