Hi

I rent a server windows 2003 from one of those companies
I am responsible for admin

Now after installing some MS updates I rebooted but cannot login back
via remote desktop

when I use my hoster's HTML interface it says terminal Services is not
running

OK I try to go via ssh/Serial console (SAC)

I get to SAC prompt ok
but when I start command prompt it says
command shell is disabled by administrator!

Well I boot in Windows Rescue mode
but then what????

1. How do I address command shell enabling
2. How do i from command line change some configuration file
that is responsible which services are start up ?!!!
3 any advise is welcome I am desperate :)

Hmmm... this generally sounds rather ominous. My preferred route, if it can
be achieved, is to use System Restore to roll the server back to before the
updates.

I presume you are already logging-on as Administrator?

This also raises two points about servers, one I would personally never
allow them to auto-update, it's inviting a disaster such as this. The other
is that for every major system-change you should really make some kind of
OS-image to cover this eventuality.

If you have tape backup you may be able to restore the system from this,
depends on the backup software.
