Locked out Of Secured Database, I Have the Password & Workgroup File

I have an Access 97 secured database which I designed myself. I have the
workgroup file and I have been both been trying to access it using a custom
shortcut--which I updated to reflect the current filepaths of both the
database and workgroup file--and I also tried just manually joining the
workgrup file and double-clicking the aplication. I was successful at
"joining" the workgroup file.

I keep getting 'You Don't Have the Necessary Permissions" before it even has
a chance to ask me for the password. I did restore these files from a CD but
I do remove the "read-only" attributes from them first.

Why is it doing this?

Again I know the password of the workgroup file and I am the flat-out
administrator. But I won't even let me get to the point of asking for the
user id & password.

Are you including the path to the Access
executable in the shortcut? Without it,
the /wrkgrp switch is ignored and the
default workgroup is used. The shortcut
should have
"path to msaccess.exe" "path to mdb"
/wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"

I too have this problem with my database. Have you been
able to resolve it?

That is exactly how I have it set up, but I STILL get that error.

Since you were successful, by joining
the workgroup, then there is something
amiss in your shortcut target. Double
check that you have the paths correct.
Even check that Office is installed
where you think it is.
