locked out of all programs

i think i may have a virus because when i log into my administrative account
it loads my settings and when windows opens no desktop items are shown and
the start menu bar flashes. I cant access anything in the start menu and only
thing i have found that i can do is ctrl/alt+delete. any solutions to solve
the problem would greatly welcomed

did you try running an anti-virus in order to find the problem? di dyou try
booting in safe mode?

There can be other reasons for your symptoms, but of course you could have a
virus or other malware. That is usually the reason for the problem. It is
completely possible to clean an infected machine without having
Explorer.exe running (the graphical user interface) but you will need
fairly advanced computer skills and be comfortable working on the command
line.

In your case, you would probably be best off to take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
