We are having an on-going problem with all of our Windows
XP machines locking files (specifically Excel files) when
opening & trying to save to a Windows 2000 server. It
forces the user to save it as a temporary file. As the
network admin, I am getting TONS of phone calls
to "unlock" these files from the server. I have
uninstalled SP2 from what machines I could (as I was told
that was the cause). However, I do have some that I
CANNOT remove SP2 from, as they arrived with it installed
from Dell. Microsoft has recognized this as a problem, in
this link to their knowledge base:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;812937 It makes you contact them directly for
the "fix". Does anyone have the patch so I don't have to
contact them directly? Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated!
