Steve

I have installed a new laptop at work that has a "locked down"
profile installed, i.e., the users can't right click, the Recycle Bin
and My Network Places are not visible, the Start menu is restricted,
etc. The problem I'm having is that the default setting when it goes
into standby, or hibernate, is on, and I can't get to it to change it,
so the user sees the message, "This computer is in use and has been
locked.", and the users have to ctrl-alt-del and enter the password,
which we don't want them to have. I have the ability to remote in to
the registry using SMS, but I don't know where this setting is located
in the registry. It is not a global setting, as I've changed it as
administrator, but it made no difference when the user signed
on. Can anyone tell me where this setting is? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

The easiest way would be to disable it from the desktop.
Right click on the desktop, then under Display Settings,
go to the Screensaver tab and uncheck the Password
Protected box. Next, click the Power button, and go to
the Advanced tab. Uncheck the "Prompt for password..."
box and then get out. This should eliminate your problem.

Cheers!

Scott,
As I said, this profile is locked down; I can't right-click on the
desktop. That's one of the profile policies in place. I need to find
the setting in the registry. I can get to that with Microsoft SMS. Any
ideas?
