In PPT XP with a Motion Path you can choose between Locked and Unlocked in
the Custom Animation. But what does that mean. I tried both and it looked
the same to me.

If you lock a motion path, and then you move the object to which it's
attached, the path stays in the same place.

If you leave the path unlocked, it moves along when you move the object.

Hi,

Further to what Echo has said, I've often wondered *why* anyone would lock a
path?

My 2 thoughts to date are:

1. To get objects already animated on a path out of the way for editing
other objects/ images, whilst adding or adjusting new animations.
2. To get them to appear during a slideshow at the start of the path before
their own animation.

I love to know if anyone else has any other takes on this angle!

Thanks Echo. You've solved it again!
