Every time I begin moving around the Internet, about three
minutes in, my computer locks-up. Ctr-alt-del won't work.
I have to manually shut down. I have re-installed IE6 four
times. I need help as this is costing me time I need for
important research papers for school. Any suggestions???

Could be any number of things unrelated to IE. Have you
tried doing some system maintenance - like scandisk and
defrag?

You aren't by chance getting full on disk space?

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Or the Java VM: http://download.windowsupdate.com/m...l/MSJavWU_8073687b82d41db93f4c2a04af2b34d.exe

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
