Last week we had a power outage for 2 days and my computer was active at the
time but I do have a surge protector. Well, now my computer locks up
several times a day under all different kinds of circumstances. I heard it
my be fried RAM and I was advised to test it but I have no idea how to test
the RAM. Can I use my Software Sandra? Could it be a different problem? I
did all the usual tests, ie: virus scan, defrag, error check etc.

If the RAM was fried, the system wouldn't pass the POST. It's most likely
to be the PSU (power supply). Suggest you replace it, and see if that fixes
it. If not, post back and we'll take if from there.

SiS0ft is the name of the company, and SANDRA doesn't really test RAM, the
best tool for testing RAM is Memtest86 which can be downloaded here
www.memtest86.com. This cannot be run from within Windows, and will create a
special bootable disk. But, like I said, there is no way it can possibly be
dead RAM as the system wouldn't POST, if it was.
